Ready to Work
Not going to college right away, but want to continue with your higher education and training to earn a solid job & solid income? The United Association Training Facility (housed on the DCS campus) offers Career Opportunities for our students in the field of HVACR (Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration), Pipefitting, Plumbing, and Welding as Apprentices and eventually Journey Workers. A senior, who may not want to attend college right after high school but enjoys building, creating, fixing, designing, painting, investigating, DOING hands-on things that result in a product or service being produced is a perfect candidate. This is free training on Saturdays (Fall & Spring semesters). Plus, you are given a job with benefits as you work as an Apprentice and eventually a Journey Worker. It is true On-the-Job Training. The Business Contractors that hire the students/apprentices actually pay for the training through the United Association 295.
Training does include math classes (Algebra & Geometry) in a casual setting (not to discourage anyone) that goes along with the trades being taught. This is a five year commitment in which the student learns a trade for free, PLUS gets a job with good pay and benefits. No student loans to pay off. There is an application process. On Tuesdays 8:30am – 11:30am & 1:30pm – 3:30pm at 743 North Beach Street, Daytona, FL 32114.
