ASL-I Syllabus- The purpose of this course is to enable students to begin to acquire proficiency in American Sign Language through a linguistic, communicative, and cultural approach. Emphasis is placed on the development of receptive and expressive signing skills and on the acquisition of applied grammar. Cross cultural understanding and real life applications will be emphasized.

ASL-II Syllabus- The purpose of this course is to enable students to reinforce the fundamental skills acquired by the students in American Sign Language 1. The course develops increased receptive and expressive skills as well as cultural awareness. Specific content to be covered is a continuation of skills acquired in American Sign Language 1 while communication remains the primary objective. The cultural survey of the target language is continued.
