What is dual-enrollment?
Dual-enrollment is a program offered by Volusia County Schools to allow students to enroll at both a Volusia County School and a participating college or university at the same time. The participating colleges and universities are Advanced Technology College, Daytona State College, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Florida Virtual School is also a dual-enrollment opportunity. Some of the dual-enrollment classes are taught at Seabreeze High School.

There are also Daytona State College Dual Enrollment opportunities right on campus. Most of our SHS Career and Technical courses have been articulated to match the curriculum in your Career program at DSC. Ask your Career and Technical teacher about earning Credit in Escrow. That means you earn credits through your SHS courses that may be "banked" for when you attend DBCC. These credits may only be used at DSC.

Would you like to check out what a real day in college would be like, sit in the classes, experience the teachers? Try Daytona College's College Experience Day. For one day you will be a college student like everyone else. Check out this flyer for more information.

How do I dual-enroll?

  1. Check with your counselor to see if you qualify to dual-enroll.
  2. Make an an appointment to discuss your dual enrollment options with a dual-enrollment counselor at Seabreeze.
  3. You must have acceptable test scores to enroll at a participating college or university. If you do not have any acceptable scores on file, you will need to take an entrance exam, currently that is the CPT, or College Placement Test.
  4. After selecting your courses from searching the course schedules on the participating college or university's website, you will need to see your dual-enrollment counselor to fill out some registration paper work.
  5. After you are registered for your classes, you can get your vouchers for your books, parking pass, and any other materials needed. Book must be returned at the end of your class.
  6. Attend class at the college or university, and complete the course with a grade of "C" or better.
