About the Academy

The Academy of Drafting & Design is a new four year program designed to prepare students for employment in the drafting industries as well as college-prep for future engineers and architects. This program focuses on engineering and architecture and the numerous types of applications found in both fields. The first year exposes the student to both engineering and architectural drawing styles and those experiences allow them to make an educated decision on the direction they wish to continue their drafting education.

The second year in the program is focused on computer aided design and student elects to continue their studies in either engineering or architecture. They will explore the various drawing types and methods while learning "The Language of Industry" and the computer programs associated with both fields.

The third year in the program is a continuation of computer aided design in either engineer or architecture with heavy emphasis on more advanced industry applications with real world results. The advanced students will also be learning 3D modeling.

The fourth year in the program involves the professionals in the community where the students will be placed in local engineering or architectural company as an intern. They will be exposed to real world situations every day and from those experiences they will decide on a senior project that will be presented to the first year academy students or to the advisory board.
