Changes to Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program 05/2011

For every student graduating 2011 school year
*All students must complete FAFSA error free to get bright futures
For every student starting 2012 school year
*FAS requires 100 community service hours
*FMS requires 75 community service
*Gold Seal requires 30 community service hours

Bright Futures Update for the Class of 2013

There have been legislative changes which will affect the class of 2012 - 2013. The Florida Bright Futures mathematics requirements for the Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) and for the Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS) eligibility have changed.

Beginning with the graduating class of 2013 Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B will be counted as ONE math credit. To ensure your student can meet the math eligibility requirement your student will need to have taken the below courses:

Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B = 1 math credit
Geometry = 1 math credit
Algebra 2 = 1 math credit
Advanced Algebra w/
Financial Applications OR
a higher level math = 1 math credit

For 2012
SAT 980 ACT 21  for FMS
SAT 1270 ACT 28 for FAS

For 2013
SAT 1020 ACT 22 for FMS
SAT 1280 ACT 28 for FAS

For 2014
*SAT 1170 ACT 26 for FMS
  SAT 1290 ACT 29 for FAS

For 4yr College per credit hour
FAS is paying $101
FMS is paying $76
GS is paying $76
UCF for Example costs $167.35 per credit hour

For 2yr College credit hour
FAS is paying $62
FMS is paying $62
GS is paying $47
DSC for Example costs $94.90 per credit hour

This has changed drastically from the old 100% and 75% and is closer to 60% and 45%
